Jae Mui Stewed Pork Knuckles

The hearty favorite stewed pork knuckles (or Khao Kha Moo in Thai) is a rather common dish. But on Samui, Jae Mui and her sweet dishes rock the menu. A favorite among locals, what makes her pork so scrumptious is the way she cooks it, stewing it until the meat becomes tenderized, almost fusing into the broth. She always starts her process at 7pm the previous night so you can be sure that when it arrives in the dish in front of you it has been done to perfection. She also uses jasmine rice in the menu as it helps bring out the aromatic taste of the stew. For those who want to try a taste of this delicacy, make sure you arrive early or you will be left disappointed when she’s all sold out.
