Getting There


By Car
Cha-am, Hua Hin and Prachuap Khiri Khan are about a three-hour drive away from center Bangkok. They are easily accessible by car via Highway no. 35. The highway goes through Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram before reaching Petchaburi province on Highway no. 4 which is Petchakasem Road. You can then reach Cha-am, Hua Hin and the rest of Prachuap Khiri Khan from there.

• By Train
Trains leave for Hua Hin 12 times daily from Hua Lumphong rail station in Bangkok. There are four class of seating available. You can check the schedule and fees online at www.railway.co.th, or call 1690.

• By Bus
Buses are available at New Southern Bus Terminal on Borommaratchachonnani Road near Pinklao in Bangkok. Buses leave for Prachuap Khiri Khan 17 times daily from this terminal. You can check the schedule online at www.transport. co.th, or call the hotline at 1490.

• By Taxi
Many taxis in Bangkok offer longdistant trips out of the city including to Hua Hin. A trip to Prachuap Khiri Khan will cost around 1,500-2,000 baht (one-way gasoline).

 

Getting Around


• Car Rental
Cars can be rented with drivers or without. It is a good idea to have an international driver’s license. There are cental at the airport , as well as in the city and the beaches.

• Song Thaeo
These modified pickup trucks are the most popular and economical means of transportation within the resort towns of Hua Hin and Cha-am. They run on routes like regular buses and cost about 10 baht per trip, regardless of distance.

• Motorcycle Taxis
Just like in Bangkok, motorcycle taxis can help you avoid congested traffic. A trip starts around 30 Baht.

• Tuk-Tuks
Tuk tuks here are a bit more expensive than in Bangkok, with rates starting around 100 baht. Despite the price, it is still a great way to experience these beach towns.

• Tricycles
For an authentic means of travels in Hua Hin, one cannot find anything more charming than a Tricycle, called “Sam Loh” in Thai. These tricycles are available mostly at popular tourist spots like Hua Hin train station and along the beach. Fees start at 50 baht.

• Bicycles
For something more eco-friendly, ( not to mention healthy), bicycles are available for rent to customers along the beach as well as at major hotels and resorts. You can rent it by the hour starting at 20 baht or for the day at around 150 Baht.
