Southern Region

Golf is an extremely popular pastime among Thais and visitors to the south alike. A combination of the very high standard of course design, service, facilities, weather, natural setting where hills often meet the sea and beautiful beaches makes southern Thailand a golfer paradise.
Southern : Phuket
Blue Canyon Country Club
(18 Holes Par 72, 7,179 yards)
Blue Canyon Country Club has 2 courses surrounded by lake
and hills situated on the idyllic island of Phuket. The Canyon
Course was the original 18 holes layout recognized as
a world championship golf course and constantly ranks as
one of Thailand’s best golf courses. The Blue Canyon Lakes
golf course is the second golf course at Blue Canyon
Country Club. The hole routing makes good use of
meandering creeks and water-filled canyons created by
abandoned open cast tin mining with natural land flow left
relatively unchanged from the original jungle contours.

Description & Signature hole: Canyon Course: Bearing
the proud signature of natural canyons, holes 13, 14, and
17 are built on existing canyon structures that suddenly
plunge into deep waters. Lake Course: Hole 18 is well
known as one of Asia’s best finishing holes in golf. It gives
golfers a choice to end their final stroke onto the green
from two platforms. A lone tree separates two totally
different fairway options.
Laguna Phuket Golf Club

This is Phuket’s only resort-based 18-hole, Par 71 golf
course. It measures 6,654 yards from the back tees and

Description & Signature hole: The finishing 2 holes,
both Par 5s, are the most challenging; the monster 612
yards 17th. They require play at least twice over water.
The fine 527 yards Par 5 18th hole, three well struck
shots give a chance for a finishing birdie.
Loch Palm Golf Club
(18 Holes Par 72, 6,555 yards)
The course is located between Kathu Waterfall and Kathu
Village. The layout surrounds the largest lake on any golf
course in Phuket, Crystal Lake, 48 acres in size, and its
smaller sister lake, which give golfers a refreshing breeze
off the water.

Description & Signature hole: A Par 5 hole 11th with
significant amount of large and open bunkering (also comes
into play). Shots too wayward require significantly longer
lengths to avoid hitting the real estate. The back nine has
some tighter and more undulating holes, starting with
the short but testing downhill Par 4 10th. Among several
excellent holes on the back-nine, one of the best is the
14th, a Par 3 played downhill to a green surrounded on
three sides by water.
Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort & Spa
(18 Holes Par 72, 7,015 yards)
The golf course sits among mangrove forests on the scenic
northeast coast of Phuket. The course has ocean view
from almost every hole and includes several ocean holes
playing out over the Andaman Sea like you sometimes see
on the televised PGA tournaments. Families who would like
to play together will be pleased to know that children may
also participate in golf. Off the course there are a host of
other amenities including a fitness room, swimming pool
and five-star spa to keep non-golfing family members

Description & Signature hole: The signature 12th hole
and handicap 1 is the longest Par 4 on the golf course,
measuring 481 yards from the back tees. To reach the
green in regulation and make par, two big straight hits are
required, or an accurate one-chip and one-putt for
a shorter hitter. The tee shot needs to carry well above
250 yards from the back tees, and land on the left hand
side of the fairway. This will give the shortest and best
angle into a well guarded green.
Phuket Country Club
(27 Holes Par 72, 6,484 yards)
The club hosted Ladies Kosaido Thailand Open 1992,
Prince Bernard Cup, Thai Senior PGA Challenge 2002,
huket Thailand Ladies Masters 2005, Phuket Asian Senior
Masters 2006 and 2008 and 1st The TGA Junior Golf
Thailand Regional Championship Challenge 2010. High
handicappers can score well, while at the same time low
handicap golfers will find the course quite a challenge.

Description & Signature hole: The most famous golf
hole in all Phuket, the 10th, from an elevated tee box,
makes its way 180 degrees around a u-shaped fairway laid
out around a large lake. It is up to each golfer how much
of the water hazard to bite off. Long hitters can go straight
for the green, with an albatross or a hole-in-one possibility.
Phunaka Golf Course & Golf Academy
(9 Holes Par 36, 2,163 yards)
Located just a short drive from Phuket town and the
island’s beaches, Phunaka Golf Crouse is set within the lush
and green landscaped grounds. This exceptional flood-lit
9-hole golf course, complete with a driving range and
a golf academy is suitable for golfers at all levels.

GPS: 7.859981, 98.331585

Description & Signature hole: The Phunaka Par 3 holes
range in length from 100 to 190 yards. The 108 yards 3rd
hole is particularly spectacular as the hole requires a lofted
iron into a small green fronted by natural marsh land.
However, the short distance should not deter golfers
looking for more challenge.
Red Mountain Golf Club
(18 Holes Par 72, 6,905 yards)
Red Mountain Golf Club opened in 2007 and is now
considered Phuket’s unique golf course. It was designed to
take advantage of a huge variety of landforms and dramatic
elevation changes, making it Phuket’s hilliest course.

Description & Signature hole: Some of the Par 3s are
excellent golf holes that rival the best in Bangkok. The 7th
hole on the “Wood” nine, in particular, requires a tee shot
well left, in order to avoid the huge lateral water hazard
which stretches right across the fairway.
