Central Region

Bangkok and the nearby provinces surround the base of the Chao Phraya River delta as it flows into the Gulf of Thailand. In a snapshot this region illustrates the stark differences between modern-day consumer-culture Thailand and the traditional agrarian society of yesteryear. The region is an interesting choice to take a golf tour with convenience and all other urban attractions nearby in the metropolis with its shopping.
Central : Bangkok
Krungthep Kreetha Sports Club
(18 Holes Par 72, 6,874 yards)
Krungthep Kreetha is one of the oldest courses near
Bangkok and features an attractive layout with big and
mature trees. The course was opened long before the
Thailand golf boom and among locals it is one of the best
known courses in Bangkok. The present course layout
brings many water hazards into play, these coupled with
mature trees and numerous out of bounds makes straight,
not necessarily long, drives the key to scoring well at
Krungthep Kreetha.

Designer: James R. Vaughn

Facilities: The Krungthep Kreetha club house, also
renovated together with the golf course, is rather grand
and boasts an excellent Thai restaurant. Complete practice
facilities, including an often empty public driving range, are
also on the Krungthep Kreetha site.

Location:
282 Krungthep Kreetha Rd., Hua Mak, Bang Kapi,
Bangkok 10240

Description & Signature hole: Most holes feature water
and OB on one or both sides of the fairway. Assuming you
do find the fairway off the tee, the accurate approach
shots are also a must due to the many water hazards and
greenside bunkers. The Par 3s are short, but very difficult
to hold the putting surface.

The greens are deceiving and somewhat difficult to read.
The Par 4 1st can ruin any chances of a good score very
quickly, and the Par 5 2nd is equally difficult with a narrow
fairway and water hazards on both sides.
Navatanee Golf Course
(18 Holes Par 72, 6,902 yards)
In 1975, the selection of Navatanee by the International
Golf Federation to be host venue for the 23rd World Cup
of Golf was the most fitting accolade and spurred the
Thailand golf revolution. The event was won by the US
team, represented by Johnny Miller, at the peak of his
game, and Lou Graham. Navatanee also hosted the
Kingdom’s National Open in 1999, in commemoration of
His Majesty the King of Thailand’s 6th cycle birthday.
In the same year, Navatanee was ranked among the top
courses in Thailand by Golf Digest USA.

Description & Signature hole: The signature 6th hole
is a daunting 445 yards Par 4 that demands a draw-shaped
shot from the tee in order to reach the green in regulation.
However, with water guarding both the entire left side of
the fairway and another lake fronting the green in
a sweeping reverse ‘S’ shape, making par on this hole is
a notable achievement.
Panya Indra Golf Club
(18 Holes Par 72, 7,260 yards)
The 27-hole Panya Indra Golf Club opened in Raminthra,
just north of Bangkok, in 1991. The course compries three
separate 9-hole championship courses, each with an indivi
-dual design and unique setting. Each course offers its own
distinctly playing experience. You can choose the Lagoon
Course, Palm Course or Garden Course. These three
beautifully sculpted courses are located in one exotic
tropical location, offering the players a golfing paradise.

Description & Signature hole: The Par 3 holes are
perhaps the most testing aspect of this course and on four
occasions the player has to hit his tee shot over water.
The Palm Course actually boasts an excellent island green
Par 3, its 4th hole. There are also some very testing dogleg
holes on each of the three nines.
President Country Club
(18 Holes Par 72, 7,059 yards)
President Country Club offers 36 holes. Extending beyond
the course in virtually all directions is a very picturesque
landscape of flat fields and open marshland, full of tall reeds
and grasses, migratory birds. Each hole was designed to be
distinct in approach from all the others.

Description & Signature hole: A pleasant array of
smallish trees and gentle earth mounding provides good
separation and definition to each hole, while the plentiful
supply of water creates many hazards which you will need
to negotiate. The final hole is a good-length Par 4, which
shares a small lake and the final green with a hole from
the 18th on the west/south course

Description & Signature hole: The majestic golf course
is designed to preserve the natural environment throughout
and to give golfers a scenic, yet refreshing atmosphere in
which to enjoy their game. On each step in this 18-hole
golf course you will encounter not only challenge but
beauty, such as hole 14 Par 4 of 409 yards. To make birdie
on this hole, you must make 2 shots to get on the green.

It will be a long-shot test for golfers. Another example is
hole 15 Par 5 that is famous for its narrow fairway, requiring
golfers drive straight. Hole 16 Par 4 dubbed the
“Mickey Mouse Hole” because its sand bunker, resembles
the famous Disney character, has two imposing ears sticking
out. And hole 3 has been said to be as beautiful as the
shot Par 3 hole of Troon.
Windsor Park & Golf Club (Panya Park)
(36 Holes Par 72, 6,970 yards)
Windsor Park & Golf Club is set in a large park on the
outskirts of Bangkok. More than 6,000 colorful plants and
trees are found throughout the golf course. The course
also features tree lined fairways, many green side bunkers,
sweeping creeks and ponds, and sloping greens.
All aspects including design, challenge, beauty, and playing
conditions are well blended to make Windsor Park a good
choice for golfers of all abilities.

Designer: Ronald Fream

Facilities: Large clubhouse which overlooks the course.
Restaurant serves excellent western breakfasts as well as
many Thai and Asian selections.

46 Moo 8, Suwintawong Rd., Nong Chok, Bangkok 10530

www.windsorgolf.co.th

Description & Signature hole: The most recently
constructed 9 holes (Course D), opened in 2006, are much
more of an extreme challenge. This nine at Windsor plays
around a man-made lake and requires very accurate tee
and approach shots to prevent balls going into the water.
Undulating and close cut greens enhance the challenge
even more and can be very frustrating even for the best
professional golfers.
